It has been said, and I’ve said it before,
“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”
This is a story of a teacher appearing for me, at the time when I needed it most. It is long post, and an intensely personal story, which you may or may not be interested in reading. I ramble, I skip here and there. It doesn’t convey well the emotions I felt when I was in the middle of it. I debated for a long time about whether to even publish it, actually. I came, though, to the realization that many people are in the same place I was. Maybe by sharing what I’ve gone and am going through, a door will open for someone else to step out into the light.
The teacher in my story is Wendy Piersall, who writes eMoms At Home, and is, to quote a post on her site, “now certified as an NLP Practitioner, an NLP Coach, and have all the training I need to get my certifications as a HypnoTherapist and Time Line Therapy Practitioner.” She is a very talented, compassionate, caring person, who did more for me than I could have ever done for myself, by myself.
So what is all this about?
It began after I’d started an excercise on eMoms, Go to the Mattresses :: Overcoming Obstacles Vs. Untapped Potential. I’d done this kind of excercise many times before, but I wanted to do it again, because I hadn’t gotten the results I wanted. It’s a process to help you identify values and rules you have that may be in conflict with each other, with a very effective means to get them straightened out.
I began the excercise using something I wanted to turn around: a lack of confidence, self-doubt.

UPDATE:
In retrospect, I really should have explained this instead of just posting it here. It looks like an advertisement. I suppose it is, but it’s also the body of an email I received.
What’s important is not the email itself, but the link buried within it: The dash movie poem
This short three-minute movie is a powerful experience, if it’s your time.
So what’s the ‘dash’? Watch the movie and find out for yourself. (and for you typography purists, it should be an ‘en dash’)
The original post was just this:

Dear :As Chairman of Nightingale-Conant, I occasionally read something that by-passes the brain and goes straight to the heart. Reading The Dash Poem was one of those times. The Dash Movie takes only three minutes to watch, but those three minutes can truly change the way you think about life. I hope it will touch you as much as it touched me. Turn up the volume on your PC then Click on the following link to watch The Dash Movie (or cut and paste into your browser): http://www.the-dash-movie-poem.com Best Wishes, Vic Conant

P.S. Please forward this email to friends who would enjoy it! |

By Steve on October 26th, 2006 in General | Law of Attraction
It’s been on my mind lately–how can I better move my self out of the way of manifesting my desires? I know that what I think, and what I feel, are the only barriers but I haven’t been able to remove them as successfully as I would like to be able to.
So I worked on and posted an article yesterday afternoon. In my thoughts, as I wrote, were finding and using ways to make the law of attraction (LOA) work better for me. I’m looking for the how. My closing remark was, “I’ll have more on this once I figure it out for myself.” So you can see the thought was there.
So about 20 minutes after I posted that, I received an email from a fellow web designer that I hadn’t heard from or communicated with in quite a while. She was in a pickle with an e-commerce site that wasn’t quite working as advertised. After a few hours of working on the problem, I had it sorted and fixed. In the last of our back-and-forth emails, about 10pm, I sent an invoice.
This morning: I received notice from my PayPal account of money received. Already? Yes! Now, what to do with this newfound money? Bills? Yeah, I should. There’re always bills to pay. But…
So what happens about 10 minutes later? An email from Nightingale Conant, telling about Wayne Dyer’s program, The Secrets to Manifesting Your Destiny. I’d been wanting to know more about Dr. Dyer’s meditation techniques, but hadn’t taken the time to investigate further. Specifically, I wanted to learn how he uses meditation to tap into the LOA, and why he believes it’s so effective.
I bought it, with my newly manifested (I believe) funds.
Was the timing of this job, her fantastically fast payment, and my receipt of that particular email a coincidence?
I don’t know for sure, but I think not.
