That headline is the epitome of an oxymoron, to me, anyway.
There’s one exception, though: Extreme Makeover—Home Edition. I watch television once every blue moon. Maybe every two. That’s the show I watch. Well, that and America’s Funniest Videos…
When you feel like something in your life is impossible, just watch Extreme Makeover. From hole in the ground to finished home in 7 days?
For years, I owned a paint contracting business, and a lot of our work was production painting of new construction. 7 days to build a house start-to-finish? No way. 30 days, at a minimum.
But impossible is just a state of mind, isn’t it?

Actually, I can now, and I want to apologize to anyone who has linked here or referenced a post and not received a specific thank-you back from me.
It’s somebody else’s fault!
No, not really. It’s my fault for not paying attention.
The cause? A plugin written for an earlier version of WordPress by Owen Winkler, “Sticky Posts”. I thought it would be a cool idea, so I installed and activated it for use later on.
What I didn’t realize and didn’t pay attention to was that as soon as it was activated, the plugin blocked any recognition of pingbacks from other blogs. Trackbacks worked fine (but who uses those any more?).
So, for those of you whose links or mentions seemed like they were falling on blind eyes, my apologies and my heartfelt appreciation!
Ping!

By Steve on November 5th, 2006 in Common Sense | General | Goals: Your Reason Why
I don’t remember where I came across this, but if you want to ensure that you don’t reach any goals you set, this list at Achieve-IT! is one of the best lists ever. I’ve actually done every single one of them at one time or another!
The ten steps you can take to guarantee failure:
- make your goals vague
- make your goals difficult to visualize
- think and speak negatively about your goals
- avoid planning incremental steps
- don’t do—talk
- wait until you’re motivated
- don’t set a date
- list why it’s impossible
- don’t research your goal
- think of anything except your goal
That’s a pretty definitive list, wouldn’t you say?
