Detach From Your Intentions!
When things don’t seem to be going the way you want them to, could it be that you’re trying just a little too hard?–forcing the issue instead of just setting your intention and letting it come to you in the best way, form and time for you? A little list that Christine Kane published resonated with me today on just this issue:
4 - A little detachment helps. When you’re clutching and clinging to your goals, you’re mucking the energy of them. You’re worrying about how it’s going to happen because you don’t believe that it can unless you have figured out the how. The point is that you don’t always know the best way or timing for something to happen for you.
5 - Show up.
You have to participate in the game. You have to show up. Effortlessness isn’t about sitting back and watching tv and hoping something good will happen. You have to participate and act. The myth is that effortlessness implies inaction. It’s not inaction. It’s action with allowing. It’s action with trust.
It isn’t easy to let go and be detached from the accomplishment of your intentions. It’s downright hard, as a matter of fact. You WANT them, whatever they are. What I’ve learned, though, is that clinging to the goal and checking on its progress is hindering instead of helping. When you constantly check earnings, web site stats, competitor’s numbers against your own, etc., what you’re really putting out is the feeling of NOT HAVING your goal–and what does that get you? We know the answer to that one, don’t we?
Similarly, we may put out the intention of a desire and expect it to manifest without any effort on our part. Effort of some sort will be required. What that effort might be may be a little murky, but if we’re open completely, the light will come on and the way will appear. I’m finding that it’s important not to force the issue–to leave your options open and not get attached to any one way of achieving your goal. For example, if more money is needed, intend for more money to appear, not that you will get a raise from your employer or an increase in business. To intend or set a goal in this way limits the possibilities that will present themselves to you for getting more money.
