A New Look For The Fast Lane

by Steve on January 27, 2007

in General

I grew tired of the old look so, as they say (whoever ‘they’ are), out with the old and in with the new!

The Fast Lane seemed like a good name at the time I created it, but my thinking has changed — hence this new theme, which is really the antithesis of “the fast lane”. It’s more a reflection of what I’m feeling — that I haven’t taken the time to really ponder some things, and haven’t taken the time to just sit and enjoy.

So this theme is a not-so-subtle reminder to me to stay out of the fast lane, so to speak.

As always, your thoughts and comments are welcome, as are any bug reports.

Speaking of which, many thanks to Sarah at Blogging Expertise for letting me know that my comment subscription thingy was broken. If any of you are using the Subscribe To Comments plugin by Mark Jaquith, you need to upgrade to the latest version, which makes it work with WordPress 2.1.

Thanks, Pam…

I have to admit that I’m having a few second thoughts about it. I’m not certain it’s as easy to read as it should be for anything other than casual perusal…

Hi Steve. I really like the new look! It’s more aligned with the content of this blog. Very reminiscent of The Secret. Which I think is a good thing.

The only readability problem for me, is the size of the font on the sidebar seems a bit small. Other than that, I think it’s actually more readable than the previous version.

Thanks for the tip on the comment plugin.

Thanks, Ed, for the comments! I hadn’t thought of it as being in the same vein as The Secret, but now that you mention it…

I did a book cover a while back with this theme — that of a contemplative-type writer working on a manuscript, and it seemed to fit.

I love the new look, Steve. As soon as I get up the courage I am going to try something new myself. :-)

Looks like you increased the font on the sidebar – unless my eyesight has improved in the last few days! Thanks.
