Mastering the Law of Attraction

Filed March 21st, 2007 in Belief | Law of Attraction

How do you master something so ethereal as the Law of Attraction?

I see this so often–it’s a common theme among LoA detractors–”That just doesn’t work. I’ve tried it. I thought of $10,000 and a Mercedes and it didn’t show up.”

You don’t master the Law of Attraction. You master yourself. The Law of Attraction is always working. It’s the way the universe works. You desire, you get your thoughts and actions right, and it happens somehow. You make it happen.

The key is in mastering yourself–becoming a student of your mind, then the master of your mind. Your mind is behind everything that comes your way. To think otherwise is to believe in fate, that you don’t have any control over your world, that things happen to you instead of you being in control of your life and destiny.

I don’t believe in ‘fate’.

I believe that I am master of my world, that I am in control of what happens in my life. Certainly, there is interaction with the other people in my life, and things don’t always go the way I think I want them to. But even then, I am in control of what those experiences mean to me, and what I do with that meaning.

Knowing that–that I determine the meaning of my life–is more than a little scary. But it also means that the better I get at consciously controlling the way my mind works, the more the magic happens.

I see the magic happening, and it drives me on to learn more, practice more, be more.

And, in the end, that’s all there is–to BE. To master the workings of your mind so that you sculpt consciously who you are.

But it doesn’t come from wishing.

    Steve,

    This is a GREAT quote:

“I am in control of what those experiences mean to me, and what I do with that meaning.”

So many people think that they cannot control their lives, but even people who believe that the LOA is total nonsense can’t deny the fact that they ARE in control of their reactions to the things that life throws at them.

LOA believers will know that favorable reactions will then also bring them favorable results later (YAY!), but even the non-believers have to concede that they can improve their lives by at least reacting to negative circumstances in a positive manner.

    Thanks, Aaron.

Too many people do the “he MADE me do it” or “she MADE me mad” and on and on. LOA believers are those people who take responsibility for what and who they are. They hold their own tiller instead of floating aimlessly, blown by the winds of circumstance–and a part of that is in knowing that what they think and what they feel is controllable.

Steve. You’ve said it perfectly! Master Yourself! That’s what it’s all about.

Thanks, Ed. Mastering yourself really is what it’s all about. And it may be the most difficult and the most rewarding thing any of us ever do.

    Hi Steve

I could agree with you more. Many people mistake Law Of Attraction as just wishful thinking or positive thinking. However, LoA really entails much more than that.

    Great post!

    Thanks for the comment, Alison.

You’re right–lots of people make that mistake initially. Those that choose to learn more because they see something for themselves gain the knowledge they need to realize their misconception.

Those who don’t or won’t learn more about it poo-poo it or denigrate it, to their own detriment.

I think the best solution to that is to demonstrate our own pursuit of mastery to those we come in contact with. It shows that mastery is attainable, by anyone.

I think the real missing pieces of The Secret is to take action. Bob Proctor said this himself in his Attraction Accelerator report (you can download it at http://attractingyourgoals.com for free). He said that he used to visualize his goals (many years ago) but the result’s still not showing. Later he found out that he miss out the neccessary action.

I highly recommend you guys to read the interview report as it contains a lot of interesting real-life story.
